One of my favorite things in SL has been my work with AVENUE Magazine. As Fashion Editor, I've been able to interview the most talent people and share my own views on fashion and style. I've been writing my column, "Fun With Fashion", for three years. It seems like only yesterday and I have to say that I've grown ALOT. I'll save a flashback post for later. IF people ask :P

This month I'm sure you attended the most fabulous Vintage Fair brought to you by Keira Seerose and her team at Chic Management. It was a resounding success and I found inspiration from the theme and also the War Horse editorial in November Vogue.

The Bettencourts

Mattie and I have been busy for weeks with our new home at The Grove. Finding the perfect house, decorating, working with the landscapers, and having really the best time. We have completely neglected the blog and our favorite past time of shopping!

We're in love with MESH at the moment. I've been fighting to stay on Phoenix but with all the wonderful creations in Mesh, I have been slowly moving to Firestorm. Today marks my first full day in the viewer. I usually log in, take a picture and leave. But, today was the first time I felt really comfy without urge to reach out for my paci..errr Phoenix. I do miss the interface, but there are some amazing tutorials out there to make it user-friendly to us "die-hard" Phoenix lovers. Do check them out, Mattie showed me and it was a huge help to making the transition easier.

Sorry for the tangent it's been a while and I wanted to share, but back to FASHION! With all the new MESH items, clothing, shoes, and even cars...we couldn't resist a post incorporating our current faves.

*Our Fav*
The new mesh knit coat from Mr. Poet is like cozy perfection while still remaining chic. Both Matt and I are wearing it - a dream fit on us both! It's nice not to have to edit prims.

*Vi's Fav*
Nardya Rousselot released her first mesh creation, the Zoe Platform as an OGlam Shopping exclusive. I love the classic oxford style with the chunky platform. Everyday I keep looking for that upload to RL button.

*Matt's Fav*
The Mesh BMW! I should make him write this part because he's been GAGA over it for a week now but I have to say it's brilliant. The top rolls down, the hood raises, and the textures are highly detailed. Mesh is a wonderful platform for automobiles.

We hope you find your own fun with MESH! I know soon we will be seeing more furniture, houses, decorations, and more! As Mattie, says..."It's the future." So jump on board the Mesh train!

Drought in the Horn of Africa, coupled with conflict in Somalia, has affected over 13 million people.

The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) is at the forefront of dealing with this crisis and is mounting food operations in five countries in the region (Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Kenya and Uganda).
It is our goal to raise awareness and money for this incredible crisis that has not had the kind of attention other human tragedies have garnered to date.
All in-world donations will be made to a special avatar, "HornOfAfricaCrisis Resident," who’s sole purpose is to receive in-world donations and turn them over to the WFP. The WFP has a Paypal account as does this Avatar. All SL transactions and all Paypal transactions will be published on a blog for all to view.

[The Lighthouse]

My Mattie took us on an adventure yesterday in search of the perfect sailboat. We stumbled upon a wonderful Lighthouse and climbed to the top just staring at the ocean as the sailboats passed by. Matteo jumped at the chance to snap some piccies. I'm still amazed he figured out shadows in like 2 mins and snagged these amazing shots! I'll refrain from sharing how long it takes me! Let's just say Mattie is VERY patient!

Some days feel crisp and clear, the ones that hold a little more happiness than others. I had my real life birthday yesterday, and I am carrying over a lot of joy for being blessed with another fabulous year filled with friends and family.

Little did they know but LeeZu!, R.icielli, Diesel Works and So Many Styles sent over plenty of joy in little presents. Oh what joy a perfect dress brings and LeeZu's latest release, Nadja, is frilly perfection. The brand new skin Rhea from R.icielli is a stunner and I haven't taken it off since I opened the box. The fat-pack is stocked full of make-up options! Mister Rogan Diesel kindly asked me to pose for his new set named... Vixie! It's quite an honor to be an inspiration, and I hope everyone loves these poses as much as I do! So Many Styles is one of my favorite brands, and Irie never disappoints with her creative vision. I love her new jewelry collection and it added just the right amount of color.

Miami Fashion Week came to a close on Sunday, and we couldn't wait to blog a few of our show outfits. SHIKI Spring/Summer '11 collection is a breath of fresh air with the tropical palette of colors. Greens, yellow, oranges and blues never looked so great! It didn't take much twisting to get Matteo into the floral pants! Although I had to sit him down as he was worried his bum looked big (LOLS).

Today I am in heaven because I found the most perfect hues of blue. Machang Pichot of Aoharu is back and the new trench is the most perfect sculpted masterpiece. As always she has a wonderful selection of colors but this blue made my day.

I'm also excited that Nardya of Nardcotix is back and her new rainbow line of the dainty Edith is here. It's the perfect must-have shoe. Sexy yet classic, it will be a go-to shoe for any look. I love the teal color here and it made me happy to find an unsual tone in a stiletto. Stay tuned for more folks, Nardya has much in store.

I'm wearing my new Belleza skin, Melissa. Tricky Boucher has elevated his classic skin line with this beauty. The make-up options actually made me go WEEEEEE! Finally a true red lip! And, I'm thrilled with the soft pink lips and smokey eyes.

Je Suis/Naive nails tip my fingers in the most lovely pink. Julia Merosi and Leah McCullough partnered to create the most versatile nails in SL. They are menu controlled and come with many various shades of pink. You even have the option of rings (gold, silver, rust versions). I'm a huge fan!

Black and white is the epitome of chic. B/W plus inventive designs is just impeccable. *The selection: the jury is composed of Azoury brand representatives; it’ll select 10 candidates among all applications and compose the final casting for Miss Azoury 2011 contest.

*Presentation evening of the 10 candidates.
February 4th, 2011 from 1.30pm SLT, there will be an evening dedicated to 10 nominee presentation. Among these women, Miss Azoury 2011 will be elected in the final show.
There will be several surprises during this evening.
We’ll also present all people and sponsors who have worked in the contest.

*Miss Azoury 2011 election:
The final show will take place February 11th from 1pm SLT (precise landmark given later).
The selected candidates will parade three times. Outfits will be chosen and given by Mayhem Seetan, Azoury’s designer. All the girls will receive the same outfits and will wear it in the given order. They can highlight it with accessories and jewels.
Before each parade, hairstyles and accessories changing are allowed, but candidates can’t change skin and shape.
Candidates will parade in alphabetical order and they will receive it with the outfits.

Winnings:
- 30,000 L$ cash.

-All the new releases in the 6 months.

Machang Pichot is one of the loveliest people in all of SL and also one of the most amazing content creators. She's always got something wonderful up her sleeve, or dress or shoes...

In an ode to Machang, the awesome (yet stinky) Boe Cortes suggested we do a little tribute post to our lovely Japanese friend. This month's Fun with Fashion column in AVENUE Magazine is all about military coats! My work as Fashion Editor with AVENUE Magazine has been such a joy and an honor. Mariska Simons has recently been branching out from lingerie to an everyday line of casuals at Blacklace. Today see's the release of 'Angel', a gorgeous Suede & Lace Corset tank that can be dressed up or down depending upon your own taste. Sissy Pessoa is one of the great designers in SL. You never know what to expect and each release tops the next. I have been a HUGE fan of her work for two years. Her creativity knows no bounds, and I love that she makes everything from sexy streetwear to haute couture.

On one of my recent random shopping trips, I ended up in Baiastice and fell in love with this stunning red gown. It literally jumped out at me... so much in fact I asked Elysium Eilde to do a photo of me in it. Her photography work was the only way to do it true justice.

So this is my ode to Sissy... Thank you for sharing your joy and passion for fashion with us all.

For the Love of McQueen

AVENUE Models proudly presents "For the Love of McQueen", a tribute to the late Alexander McQueen, where 38 fashion designers have come together to lend their support in each creating a design that is inspired by McQueen's work and spirit.

These original designs created within a week, will be showcased in a fashion show on 28th February 2010 at 12 pm SLT on GOLden shopping sim after which the designs will be available for sale at the designers' stores for the month of March. 100% of the sales proceeds will be donated to the charity, Keep A Child Alive, since Alexander McQueen was a known supporter of similar AIDS / HIV charities.

The project initiated and produced by Rusch Raymaker, CEO of AVENUE Inc, shares her inspiration for organising this project:

"Alexander McQueen represents an immortal legacy of the spirit of innovation that continually pushed the envelope in fashion. Always one to shape and reshape fashion by deconstruction and reconstruction, McQueen was indeed a 21st century designer that constantly dared to refrain from conformity. He gave the world a new vision and perspective about fashion and his knack for story-telling to relay these messages was second to none, richly realized in his designs and fashion show productions. His mind, his spirit and his visions were larger than life.

For all these things and the sense of loss and grief I feel for losing such a great inspiration in my life, I dedicate this tribute, For The Love of McQueen, a collaboration of Second Life's fashion designers, stylists, artists, members of the press and the team from AVENUE Models and AVENUE Magazine, to express our gratitude for the impression Alexander McQueen made on all our lives, real and virtual."

The fashion show will be hosted by Angie Mornington of Fabulous Fashion and staged on a build realized by Babyhoney Bailey based on Rusch Raymaker's inspiration for the show. Machinimaist TommyLee Nightfire will be creating a film documenting the creations and show.

Pepper me Crazy!

I do love me. In fact, my shape hasn't changed since I made my face back in January of '08. But, I do like to create new characters and makes shapes for friends. PXL has some great skins, and the JULY series really inspired me to make this custom Pepper shape.

I thought I'd dress "Pepper" up in something fitting for her character. She's full of attitude and sass, so I had to start with the new hair from Kookie ($50L FTW)! I adore So Many Styles and Irie's put out a $50L jacket for the Red Cross Haiti Relief fund. It's nice to shop and feel good about donating money. I encourage you all to spread the love around either in-world or directly to the Red Cross. Every dollar counts.

Today I'm sharing my donuts! This never happens as I'm very greedy, and enjoy my tastie treats. Especially the SL versions from Akeyo and Pink Fuel. They're low on fat and high on fun!

For Christmas, my dear friend Beertschi Lytton made me the coolest dress so aptly named... Vixielicious. The dress was just released at Cynful&Co part of the Cynful brand owned by Cynthia Ultsch. I love the texture of this dress and the unique cut of it! The dress comes in pretty much every color! I just adored the pink version when I tried it on and I've been living it in since!

My Pinkie Skull has some great capris in their store from leopard to glitter, and the pink ones worked perfectly with my new Vixielicious dress. Marcopol Oh designed necklaces for me this year for Christmas, my dear friends received their own copies and I had one made for myself. It's officially Vixie day. Lolssss :P

BAX Coen Designer, Julia Merosi was kind enough to share her flower bangles with me. I love the pink version (color change option). Of course I am rocking my BAX prestige boots. It just doesn't get better than this. If not for the donuts I would be licking my boots.

Sometimes you find a place and know immediately it is home. When I first discovered Dakota Neumann's amazing luxury Villa's that feeling of home washed over me. The inspired vision and balance of design amaze me to this day. Each home carries it's own unique features that almost breathe life into the space around it. That's rare to find in real life, but especially in our second lives.

Today I wanted to share a little GOL Design with you. The luxury villas are displayed over two sims. Both sims are filled with unique modern homes. The textures are custom-made by Dakota and his homes are trademark GOL style with their distinctive lighting and structure. The beautiful lighting and striking textures help set a wonderful mood and atmosphere. Marcopol Oh Studio has collaborated with Dakota Neumann to outfit many of the models with furniture. As soon as you walk in, you begin to imagine your life there.

I'm very blessed to live in the crown jewel of GOL Design, our home at Taliesin. It's the home of my dreams. It's my safe haven in SL, the place where I'm surrounded by my family and friends in total comfort and peace. The new year is about beginnings, making change and starting fresh. Where's Aimee?

LeeZu Baxter, designer extraordinaire, has done it again with the release of Aimee. I had heard about this dress for over a month, as it was being made for MVW 4th Runner-up Ella Quinsette (UK). I'm a loyal employee, and even I wondered just how different it could be than other SL gowns. LeeZu's work has surprised even me, and I have high expectations when it comes to her. This dress is revolutionary as it fits ANY pose. It moves with you! The dress doesn't drag behind you, it's stunning. Your legs will never pass through a gown AGAIN. It's remarkable...in fact I tested out a zillion poses with it. I am still amazed.

Warm Fuzzies!

Some days you just need to feel warm and fuzzy. And, today was like that for me. I adore Aoharu's clothing - I think I own half the store. Machang Pichot is the most amazing woman. Very kind and very friendly, she shares so much. I was putting together this look and had to stop by to find some pieces I've missed. The denim jacket was perfect.

BAX Coen Designs is new to GOLden Shopping and I'm thrilled to welcome them to our little sim. BAX released the suede boot recently and the color options are unreal. It's truly a rainbow! I bought the blue pair and with menu options found this really amazing denim shade. I'm totally going back later to get the green ones!

Thank you again to Marcopol Oh Studio for letting me jump in and get cozy on his crocodile sofa (*no crocs were harmed during this shoot). The Tribute living room set comes in four colors and I've found myself chilling on it pretty much daily while working. Shhh don't tell people I sit on the job :P
